Our Mandate
Advocates for International Women’s Rights (AIWR) is dedicated to raising awareness about gender inequality and female empowerment around the world. Our mandate is to channel the passion about issues related to gender inequality that lies within each of our members. We do this by raising awareness on campus and educating students, and by providing members and non-members with a platform through which they can explore the world of gender inequality, question the role and relevance of feminism in today’s world, and learn how gender inequality affects men as much as women. Advocates for International Women’s Rights is focused on knowledge generation and community service through the lens of gender inequality. Knowledge generation is done through holding informational sessions with speakers, weekly group meetings where gender issues in current news are discussed, and through hosting various events on campus all of which provide valuable insight into the issues faced by women and men around the world. One of our most important goals is giving back to the community, which in prior years has been done through reaching out to a women’s shelter and donating money to suitable causes.
